Finally we are posting pictures from Aidan's first birthday!!! After many, many trials and tribulations (ie Blogger kept crashing and crashing and crashing), we have succeeded!
So, his first birthday was on Saturday, July 24. It was perfect weather: not too hot and not cold at all. It took us longer than expected to set up the tents, tables, and food but it was all worth the effort. Yes, we know, we had waaaaayyyy too much food but better more than not enough is the Sue motto!
Aidan had a blast watching and playing with all the kids. And the kids were having fun with the sprinkler, water balloons, and water guns. But the pinata was the best! Aidan got his first hit on the pinata, but was more interested in the stick. Then he got to watch his poor dinosaur get smashed to smithereens. Boy did those kids surprise us... especially the girls! We think they were rougher and tougher than the boys!!! Haha!
Cake time was great! Aidan stuck his finger into the cream and then smeared it all over his face while he was tasting it. The best part was when he kicked his cake! Yes, he did kick it and it was all Mommy's fault because she held him too close to the cake and wasn't fast enough to move him back! Woopsy... but a great memory! And somehow during all this mayhem a water fight broke out. It wasn't between kids either! It was between Grand-Uncle Holm and Grand-Auntie Katie!!! He squirted her a few times with the water gun and then she kept squirting him back over and over AND THEN dumped a cup of water on him! Yikes!!! =D That was classic though!
Everyone seemed to have had a great time and had plenty to eat. Yes, people did bring home leftovers too. Thank God! Or else we'd still be eating the food! Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us! You guys made Aidan's birthday FANTASTIC! And a special thanks to Grandpa, Grandma, Auntie Shelle, and Uncle Adam for helping to set up, decorate, pick up food, bring supplies, entertain the kids, and everything in between! And a big thank you to our families who helped to clean up!! =D
